Dapagliflozin
Dapagliflozin is a sodium-glucose cotransporter 2 inhibitor, usually shortened to SGLT2 inhibitor. Dapasmart is the attached single-ingredient tablet record, with 5 mg and 10 mg strengths.

One mechanism, several clinical settings
Blocking SGLT2 increases urinary glucose excretion and changes sodium handling. This helps explain why dapagliflozin appears in more than one clinical territory. The Dapasmart record connects to type 2 diabetes mellitus and chronic kidney disease within diabetes management.
Those links do not make every use identical. Kidney function, the treatment objective, other medicines and the person’s volume status all affect the clinical plan.
Illness and dehydration deserve attention
SGLT2 inhibitors can contribute to volume depletion, genital fungal infection and urinary infection. Nausea, vomiting, abdominal pain, unusual tiredness or difficult breathing can signal ketoacidosis and need prompt assessment, including when glucose readings do not look exceptionally high.
Acute illness, prolonged fasting and surgery can change that risk. A clinician may give specific temporary-hold instructions for those situations. Dapagliflozin is not a treatment for type 1 diabetes or diabetic ketoacidosis.
