Single-tablet regimens with three ingredients
Biktarvy combines bictegravir, emtricitabine and tenofovir alafenamide in one tablet. Trustiva and Viraday both combine efavirenz, emtricitabine and tenofovir disoproxil, and Viropil combines dolutegravir, lamivudine and tenofovir disoproxil, each putting a three-ingredient regimen into one tablet.
Individual ingredients and two-part combinations
Tivicay contains dolutegravir and Sustiva contains efavirenz, from different drug classes. Epivir contains lamivudine and Retrovir contains zidovudine; Combivir combines the two in one tablet. Ziagen contains abacavir, Viramune contains nevirapine, and Kaletra combines lopinavir with ritonavir, alongside older options such as Indinavir Capsules, Zerit and Videx EC.
Tenvir-EM is also used to prevent HIV, not only to treat it
Tenvir-EM combines tenofovir disoproxil with emtricitabine and, unlike every other medicine here, is also used for pre-exposure prophylaxis: taken by someone without HIV to reduce the chance of acquiring it. The same tablet can treat or prevent HIV, depending on who takes it.
Famvir also appears in this group. It contains famciclovir and is used for herpes zoster, herpes simplex virus infections and chickenpox rather than HIV.
