PDE5 inhibitor tablets and their brand names
The European Association of Urology lists sildenafil and tadalafil among the PDE5 inhibitors used for erectile dysfunction, alongside vardenafil, avanafil and udenafil. Sildenafil appears here under brand names including Viagra, Kamagra, Cenforce and Fildena; tadalafil under Cialis, Vidalista and Tadalista; vardenafil under Vilitra, Valif and Zhewitra; avanafil under Avana; and udenafil under Zudena. Cialis and Cialis Daily are also used for benign prostatic hyperplasia, a separate prostate condition. Most come as standard tablets, though the group also includes an oral film (Viagra Strips, Tastylia Strips), a sublingual spray (Maxgun) and oral jelly (Kamagra Oral Jelly, Zhewitra Oral Jelly). Cenforce is made by Centurion Laboratories in Vadodara, Gujarat, India.
Why some tablets also contain dapoxetine
Cenforce-D, Tadapox, Super Avana, Super Vilitra, Super P Force Oral Jelly, Extra Super Tadarise, Sildigra Super Power and Extra Super P-force all pair a PDE5 inhibitor with dapoxetine, used for premature ejaculation alongside erectile dysfunction. Malegra Fxt pairs sildenafil with fluoxetine instead, and Malegra Dxt pairs it with duloxetine. Silvitra, Tadasiva and Sildalis instead combine two PDE5 inhibitors, sildenafil with vardenafil or tadalafil, in one tablet.
Alprostadil injection: a different approach
Alprostadil Injection contains alprostadil, which is not a PDE5 inhibitor and is not taken by mouth. It is injected directly into the penis and works by relaxing blood vessels there to let blood flow in, rather than supporting the body’s own arousal response the way the other medicines in this group do.
