NHS’s Levothyroxine: a medicine for an underactive thyroid (hypothyroidism) page describes it as the main treatment for an underactive thyroid, usually taken for life.
NHS’s Hormone replacement therapy (HRT) page lists tablets, patches, gel, spray, vaginal preparations and tibolone among the forms HRT can take.

Thyroid replacement and thyroid suppression

Synthroid and Levothroid both contain levothyroxine, replacing a thyroid hormone the body lacks; Cytomel contains liothyronine for the same purpose. Neomercazole (carbimazole) and Tapazole (thiamazole) do the opposite job, reducing hormone from an overactive thyroid instead.

Menopause and other female hormone medicines

Estrace contains estradiol and Premarin contains conjugated estrogens for menopausal symptoms, while Estriol Topical treats vaginal and urinary symptoms locally. Provera, Prometrium and Aygestin add a progestogen and also treat period problems such as abnormal bleeding apart from menopause; Tibofem contains tibolone as a single-ingredient alternative, and Desogen pairs desogestrel with ethinylestradiol as a contraceptive pill instead.

Male hormone and fertility medicines

Cernos Gel contains testosterone and Mesterolone Tablets contain mesterolone for low testosterone in men; Androxal and Enclomisign contain enclomiphene for a different cause of the same problem. Clomid (clomifene) treats female infertility, Zyhcg (human chorionic gonadotropin) supports ovulation induction, and Dostinex (cabergoline) treats a raised prolactin level; Danazol Tablets treat endometriosis, fibrocystic breast disease or hereditary angioedema.

Samsca, DDAVP Spray, Mestinon and Medrol are not hormone replacements

Samsca (tolvaptan) and DDAVP Spray (desmopressin) manage the body’s water balance rather than a sex or thyroid hormone. Mestinon (pyridostigmine) treats myasthenia gravis, a muscle condition, and Medrol (methylprednisolone) treats inflammatory and allergic conditions broadly; neither replaces or blocks a hormone the way the medicines above do.
