Hydroquinone and mometasone cream for melasma. The steroid calms inflammation, and the hydroquinone lightens the skin.
As Nasonex Nasal Spray, mometasone furoate treats the nasal symptoms of seasonal and year-round Allergic Rhinitis in adults and children aged 2 and over, including nasal congestion, and treats Nasal Polyps in adults. In Dulera it is combined with formoterol as an inhaler for asthma and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease.
In Elocon and Melacare Forte Cream, mometasone furoate is applied to the skin: Elocon on its own for atopic dermatitis and psoriasis, and Melacare Forte Cream, which also contains hydroquinone and tretinoin, for melasma.
Nasonex Nasal Spray and Dulera share the same originator, Merck: one is a nasal spray for allergy symptoms, the other an inhaler combining mometasone furoate with formoterol for asthma and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease. Elocon, the topical form of mometasone furoate on its own, was originated by Schering-Plough and comes in a tube rather than a spray or inhaler.
Melacare Forte Cream is a different kind of product: manufactured by Ajanta Pharma, it pairs mometasone furoate with hydroquinone and tretinoin in one tube for melasma. Within Skin Care, the tube form here covers both a single-ingredient steroid and a multi-ingredient combination, so the full ingredient list on each pack matters as much as the brand name.
